We got away with crossing all previous red lines, our own red lines and Russian red lines. Russia compensated for it with more of Ukrainian territory. They prioritized that instead of expending the conflict and this worked well for them. If they are attacked with tomahawks and it has a devastating effect and rise of internal criticism of restraint , all bets are off.
