Hey guys,
I'm trying to determine if a stock Tula 1953r SKS would be considered legal under the NY SAFE Act? It has a 10-round fixed mag, so I'm making the assumption that you can have 'features' on it, including the toothpick. Also could these possibly be considered Curios & Relics? Has anyone run this to ground? I tried searching for this here but can't come up with anything.

Thanks!

I guess I should qualify my proclamation. The SKS is legal in MOST of PRNY. I see that you're from Blue Point....that sure sounds like some Long Island /NYC area type place to me (although I don't know for sure). If that's the case, there may be some regional prohibition in place. My end of the State has no such restriction.

I mean... If you reallllllllly want to go down the rabbit hole, the sks has a bunch of evil features and fixed mag.

However.....

It also has the "Ability" TO accept a detachable mag. If you modify it :)

SKS has a fixed magazine. The "features" provision does not come in to play

This is my entire point why you don't need "epoxy" for the ar15 mag locks. It's redundant.

An ar15 with a mag lock is equivalent to a regular sks. They are both "fixed" mags, until you use tools to take them apart and change parts and modify them in a way to make them able to accept removable mags.

Well, I don't want to veer to far off course but it just occurred to me after reading the epoxy comment. If you have different caliber uppers that require magazines unique to those calibers and only one lower, how do you secure your magazine so as to comply and at the same time make it possible to switch magazines for each upper? Are you forced to buy lowers for each caliber? Okay, now that my blood pressure has reached danger levels as I do a mental review of all the shit that has come down from the tyrants in Albany I must stop here.
This shit is so bothersome and stupid, even if your not directly affected. FUNY!

Stop worrying about it and just change the magazines out, it's not like some silent alarm is going to go off and the Police SWAT your house for it.
What's that they say about becoming ungovernable?

You can remove the engine from your car, but it isn't detachable.

The SKS uses a fixed magazine not a detachable one unless you disassemble it or modify it to accept a specially made conversion magazine (there were some special models of SKS that accepted AK47 magazines, but we're not talking about them)

I've concluded the argument is akin to arguing between religions over who's interpretation of the Bible is correct and who's a heathen.
