True. I haven’t looked up if it is a second or weekend home. But you could look at the owners address and figure that out. We have the same.

I’d be more impressed if he was publishing the list of child molesters who missed their court appearance by address or parole meetings, anyone who entered the country illegally and was on assistance, a notice for any Elected Official brought up on charges and what the charges were. This Cherry Picking stuff (like Winchester County publishing the names, addresses, and weapons owned of all registered folks in the system) is BS and violates Fair Treatment as posted in the Federal and State Constitutions and Law.

Yeah, but it doesn't say in the phone book (or in the published list): Mike Smith (ICE Agent) 123 Oak Street 123-456-7890. Nothing was released that links anyone's employment to ICE or otherwise - you're adding in fictitious actions that aren't part of what happened.

Here's what actually happened: 100% of everything published was already available in the public domain. They aren't adding any additional content that wasn't already out there. They are just filtering already existing public information. It's public record of who owns more than one property and the assessment value is also public record.

Well, I wasn't aware he actually went to one of the homes and said, "we are coming after you". If that's the case, then yeah, that's not good at all. I still wouldn't call it doxing, more harassment.

I wasn't defending him. I am rejecting the idea that you can use public information to dox someone. I don't care who does it. It could be Trump releasing information compiled from public records and I'd say that's not doxing either.

The going to someone's home like described definitely seems to cross harassment boundaries though as a public official.

Yeah, but it doesn't say in the phone book (or in the published list): Mike Smith (ICE Agent) 123 Oak Street 123-456-7890. Nothing was released that links anyone's employment to ICE or otherwise - you're adding in fictitious actions that aren't part of what happened.

Here's what actually happened: 100% of everything published was already available in the public domain. They aren't adding any additional content that wasn't already out there. They are just filtering already existing public information. It's public record of who owns more than one property and the assessment value is also public record.

Also, what makes you think I like Mamdani? My post history is public, I've never said anything flattering about the guy. Heck, if you look in this very thread (this post: The Adventures of NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani ) I'm flat out saying his policies won't make anything better.

My opinion on this has nothing to do with him as a person or politician. Publicly available information is already public. I reject the idea that you can "dox" someone by sharing information that was already 100% public. "Doxing" is releasing private information about someone, not sharing information already in public domain. To "dox" them he would have needed to include information that was not in the public domain and was supposed to remain private, and that didn't happen.

It's the equivalent of taking the old phone book, and running a highlighter over all the ICE agent's entries.

I think compiling public information into a condensed form can constitute doxing.

Just because your name and address are public somewhere, that doesn't mean publishing them as part of a specific list isn't doxing.

OfC, doxing isn't categorically wrong either. The sex offender registry (as problematic as it is) is basically government doxing.
