@Chevusa,
It's Glock Sport Shooting Foundation
If you are are a renewal or you join with a 2 year membership you are sent a coupon
with your membership card allowing you to purchase a Glock at Blue Label prices.
It also allows you to take the Glock armorers course.
First off, if you would of listened to togmaster and myself these questions would of been answered by Ben.
I just scanned the handbook and found they took out Sportsperson.
You can call the County Clerks office and ask if you can use the generic form and write in Sportsperson.
If not, since it...
@Chevusa,
Not all Pistol Safety instructors are equal.
Some are better than others. It's the support that counts.
You want someone who really cares, goes the extra mile and who wants to see their students do well.
I made a recommendation because for MANY YEARS I have trained with MANY...
@ikilledkenny,
Not only does Onsight Firearms Training have a class for the Westchester County Pistol Permit they will guide and help you through the process. Once you obtain your handgun permit they also have all types of classes that will teach you how to be proficient with your new firearm.
I spoke to the Westchester County Clerk's office on Tuesday.
She said although the office is still closed for walk ins some
judges are working and are signing handgun permit amendments.
I’ve trained with many instructors at many venues, but Ben and Rachael are among some of the best. When it comes to knowledge, know-how and teaching expertise, they are hard to beat. Not only will you sharpen your skills, but you’ll have fun doing it. I guarantee that you will not only love...
Are Glock Gen5's without the finger grooves causing less Glock Knuckle ?
I know about undercutting the trigger guard but I was wondering by
Glock removing the finger grooves does it help with this issue.
Thanks in advance.
C.B.
I'm looking to sell one handgun and buy another so before I do so I called the Westchester County Pistol Licensing Division office today to see what the timeline may be. I was told by one of the clerks that they would process the paperwork, cash the check and put it on one of the judge's desks...
Hi togmaster,
Last year work was crazy at work so so I didn't get to shoot or train much.
I was hoping to pick it back up this year but I guess Covid-19 has delayed that for a while.
Hope to catch you at one of Ben's classes in the near future.
Hey guys,
Thanks for your responses so far.
As you...
Yes, check other and write in restriction change.
You should reread https://publicsafety.westchestergov.com/images/stories/pdfs/2018wcpdHandbook.pdf
This will answer all your questions.
Emkay44, not rocket science.
1.) Fill out amendment you referenced and attach the bill of sale for the handgun you purchased.
If you can walk it in, beats the USPS.
If you are approved in 2 to 6 weeks you will get a coupon that you take
to the gun store and give to him for your previously...
Technically you have a carry permit so if you had a holster you could carry it CONCEALED to the range.
Since you are a newbie and a little worried I would carry it unloaded in a locked box out of your reach.
The lock box could be the box the gun came in or a soft case.
The ammo could be carried...
@C3D, NYS says you can, until he is 21 but Blue Mountain may not.
They have gotten much stricter since there is a new chain of command at that park.
They now ask if you have someone in the car as they must sign in with
you because they want to know everyone who goes down to the ranges.
I would...
Since you are a new shooter you may want to get some professional training.
You can try Welcome to Onsight Firearms Training, LLC.
He trains locally at the Blue Moutain police ranges a few times a month.
I train with him at least once a month.
If you have the time and money you may want to go to...
When you get up to the window look at the sign in sheet.
If you see everyone checked pistol then maybe you want to pay for 2 hours, otherwise don't.
Even though it's Saturday I doubt it will be crowded this time of year.
I never ever paid for 2 two hours and never ever got chased.
I shoot there...
@Emkay44, the pistol range is $11
an hour if you don't have a Westchester park pass.
You can stay as long as you like as long as no-one is waiting.
Target changes are about every half hour, they supply you with an NRA B-8 type target.
If you have any of your own you can put them up over theirs.
Most of you guys missed the point.
I'm talking about "Natural Point Of Aim"
@Podmonkey, while gripping the gun in an unorthodox
way you are taking the time to line up the sights.
@Acer-m14, closing an eye just shifts the focus of the sights right or left.
These things have nothing to do with...
I would hate to leave the Glock camp.
I have a lot invested.
Guns, mags, parts and tools.
I would take a blood bath if I traded or sold all this stuff.
So I guess I have to keep practicing until it comes naturally.
Rep after Rep after Rep.
Does anyone have issues with this ?
I shoot a Glock 19, Gen4 & Gen5.
In my case when I draw fast and punch out to the target my sights naturally point high.
I have to make an adjustment by canting my right wrist to get a perfect index (sight picture).
When time allows I do this but while running...
@misunderestimated, I only use belt loop attachments for my holsters and mag pouches.
Blade-tech and Comp-tac make good stuff for competition.
I have a few of their products.
@misunderestimated, I have been to Master Class many times.
I always wanted to join their winter Combat League but never got around to it.
Maybe I'll take a ride up next Wednesday.
Thanks for the reminder.
Shooting league in Monroe, NY | Master Class Shooters Supply
I'm at a range once a week.
I try to train either once or twice a month.
The other weeks I practice reinforcing the skills I've learned while training.
As you all know shooting is a perishable skill.
You are only as good as you are cold.
So what are you waiting for ?
Get out and hone those skills !
Any of you guys coming out this Sunday ?
The weather should be good.
It would be nice to see some of you Keyboard Jockeys
coming out from behind your computer to show us what you got.
See you then.... if you dare !
I could of gotten a NYC full carry when I lived in the Bronx many moons ago.
What a mistake not doing that.
I think I'll contact a lawyer or two and see what they have to say.
I really want to move out of Westchester.
My real estate taxes are more than what some people earn.
My kids are long out of the school system so there is no reason for me to stay in this county.
Why is it a good thing ?
It eliminates some freedoms of carrying your gun.
Sportsperson allowed you to carry legally while doing many different activities.
Target, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc.
Now for a civilian trying to get a permit they will have to choose between target or...
I think Westchester County eliminated the Sportsperson Restriction.
I was at one of Ben's Onsight Firearm Classes at Blue Mountain
yesterday and one of his regulars mentioned this.
I checked their website and they removed the amendment
for it and also removed mention of it in their pistol...
I've had a M&P 40, I shot it with great success.
My son has a M&P 40 2.0 and M&P 40C 2.0.
He shoots them well.
DO NOT BUY a M&P Shield in 40.
A very hard gun to manage recoil.
@garyv350, I never had the honor of meeting judge Emmet Murphy.
He use to shoot at the Ardsley Pistol Range that I belonged to but could never seem to catch him.
Although I do know judges that knew him and said he was quite the character.
I too know some of the Westchester cops that work there...
@MikeGrad, When you go there in person they ask for your permit.
Then they go to the computer and see where the amendment is in the system.
Every time I went I was told it was on the Judge's desk.
I may be imaging that this helped but the couple of times I did this I received it in the mail 2...
