I found a secret code, NBM I believe it was for $10 off.
I just ordered the Poly 80 Glock “1917” from Brownells. It has a 19 grip length and 17 slide length. Build time ;)
So the optic is going on the 21 temporarily and I may even consider selling that one when the 1917 is up and running.
I’ve actually been reloading on and off all day. I’m going to the range tomorrow. Wanted to polish off what I have left of .45 and 9mm 115gn bullets (I’m switching to 124gn).
I’ve always rejected the “time is money” argument, especially in regards to hobbies.
Firstly, unless I am choosing to forgo a paid activity, then that time is not “money”.
Secondly, we should enjoy hobbies. When it comes to reloading for hobby as opposed to sale, you’re not “saving” money...
I use the Xtreme plated bullets, the cheapest primers and powder in bulk. There is definitely savings to be had, especially at volume. Not to mention getting bulk ammo in NY is tough now, especially here in the city. So for us down here, reloading is a must unless you barely ever shoot.
This is what I meant meke. Sure shotguns can do it all. As with anything else in life that can “do it all”, they don’t do most of it best. The three things I listed are all they do best. Everything else can be accomplished better with something else.
Competitions, but I would consider a carry optic if I was allowed to do so. I’ll continue practicing with everything I own of course. That’s one of the reasons I’m leaning towards mounting on the .45. Since it isn’t my carry handgun, it will ensure I work them into range time. If I put it on a...
I need to find a 17 Gen 3 slide to test my polymer 80 reciever with. I have the first model with the plastic rails. If it works, I’ll finish building that slowly while keeping the red dot on the 21 till its finished.
I ordered a cheap dovetail mount to use for now on my Glock 21. I’m all over the map on what I want to do, at least this will get me practicing and a better idea of how I want my permanent setup to look.
I just "built" an entire P80 compact in my "cart" at Lone Wolf. With the cut, cerakote, upgraded barrel and serial number etching on the 80% lower:
$732!
Those are pretty good prices actually but I'm sticking with Glock for this one. I don't want to deal with buying new mags. If I go with modding the Glock 21, I have 9 10rd mags. If I go with a new Glock 19, I honestly am not even sure how many mags I have but it is a lot.
The red dot is DEFINITELY for me, I've been messing around with a few other people have at my range, but I'm definitely concerned with having a slide cut to fit just one model considering the slide will last 40+ years and I doubt red dots will look the same then if I decide to upgrade. UGH.
That looks interesting, but I'm pretty set on no backup sights. I'm really on the fence just buying a Glock 19 MOS. Ugh lol. I'm so bad when I get going.
Thing is, I'm reluctant to dump money into the Glock 21 then figure out that I don't like shooting .45 in competitions.
Let’s discuss handgun optics in a dedicated thread.
I just ordered the Vortex Venom from Amazon. $229 and no tax (I “seller shopped” until I found one, FUAC).
Now I have to decide once and for all what I want to do as far as mounting options.
I am leaning towards a dedicated cut and nice...
Saw my cousin today who is the president of his gun club in NJ. He hooked me up with a gunsmith from his club who does all the work I want to have done. I’m going to speak to him tomorrow. I’m glad I can get this done locally now.
Got enough Christmas money so far to pick up my Vortex Venom. I’m going with the Lone Wolf for the slide cuts. Looks like they only charge about $100 if you get no backup sights.
I definitely am considering just using a mount. I don't think I want backup sights anyway. This gun will NEVER be used off of the range unless someone breaks into my house while I happen to be putting it back in the safe and I have a magazine right there loaded. lol
So those mounts that slide...
They do USPCA matches I believe.
I want to a nice trigger, a match barrel and an RMR. What was the company you posted last time that does the cutouts? I want to check them out again. I have to decide what RMR I am buying first though right?
I'm tossed but between buying another 19 or modifying my 21 for competition shooting. I want to get into it this spring finally at the range after seeing some videos made by friends. Looks like a lot of fun. My friend tells me that the 21 would put me in the higher power class but that I could...
I have 5 AR’s. Of them, 2 have backup sights.
1. My M4 clone only has the carry handle sight and front sight post as I did not have a scope in the Army.
2. My “battle rifle” does have them.
3. My 9mm pistol does have them.
4. My AR-10 only has a 4-12 hunting scope on it.
5. My KS-47 only...
Also, it doesn’t extend into retirement. I’ve yet to hear a story about what happened to an officer who had something while active but then retired. The only people I know who’ve availed themselves of the oversight are still active.
