I don’t know, maybe I was being a little over sensitive. We have had posters who’ve moved then bragged. You weren’t doing that, maybe I took it wrongly.
Unfortunately he doesn't.
So he made a bunch of phone calls today. OC said they don't care how the guns get there. They also said there is in fact an expedited process since he already has a valid permit. They recommended that he voucher the guns with the NYPD until his permit is issued, then...
Because 99% of the people on this forum can't own stuff like that. Why bring it up? I'm in the same boat as you, I avoid mentioning it as much as possibly because of that. I mean posting a picture? How do you think some people will take that?
I don’t understand how posts like this don’t bother some of you. I guess OP doesn’t live in NY anymore? The thread would be 90 pages if I mentioned picking up a new un-pinned magazine or whatever.
I've been using 4198 for x39. What improvements would I get by changing to CFE? I have a TON of 4198 to go through first, but I'd be open to trying something else.
They’re at his parent’s house in the city. His NYC permit is still valid for 2 more years. He should be fine to pick them up once the OC permit is obtained. I do agree that he likely has to go through the entire process anew. Worst case, his brother-in-law or sister will drive them up (both cops).
That’s what I figured. They shouldn’t have to see the guns in person if he shows the NYC permit and the paperwork from when he bought them. The NYC permit is technically valid as all others in NYS, it just has restrictions. They should still accept it.
My buddy recently moved from NYC to Orange County.
He is being told that to transfer his guns from his NYC premise permit to his Orange County permit, he will have to ship them FFL to FFL.
Does this sound right? Has anyone dealt with this issue before?
I know the premise permit thing is the...
I’m going to try to take a day off next week. Otherwise, I’ll be back next sunday. Was going to go this sunday, but I was offered easy overtime. I booked a hotel for Oct 27-31 in Painted Post. I’m finally going back to Erwin WMA. I plan to hunt that week hard.
We can’t charge the accuser unfortunately because there’s not enough information to prove it was done purposefully. I wish we could more easily charge for false allegations, but I do understand why we can’t most of the time.
Stop thinking for other people. It doesn't pain me at all to state that. The nature of law enforcement is to revoke the rights of persons accused of crimes, doing so under the laws and precedent established by our legal system.
There exist causes to violate a persons rights. During war, to kill...
You're not charged with enforcing laws though. You have zero police powers. Like it or not, as much as Darth says it, the police are endowed with specific powers necessary to investigate crimes and make arrests. So yes, if you did what they did, you'd be arrested most likely, because unlike...
Corroborating facts is the hallmark of good investigative work. It's mind-boggling to suggest otherwise. Are you saying that you prefer that investigations be conducted using as little information as possible? Otherwise I can only take this as a statement that you view any proper investigation...
One witness/complainant is enough to establish probable cause.
In a situation like this, I'd have ensured that at least one officer stayed behind to obtain the complainant's pedigree info and a detailed description. Those two elements are enough to legally establish probable cause. Now the...
Credible is based on specific levels of proof established by law and the courts. It is not based on a person's persuasive abilities. Much of policing is viewed by uniformed parties through a myriad of misconceptions, this certainly being one of them.
I've had to inform numerous complainants...
Agreed, this was pretty much my point. Anyone who makes elaborate plans and expects to engage during what really are routine events in reality, is mentally ill.
The type of planning we are discussing should be focused on truly one of a kind events. Society will not break down over a major...
But I was hoping to discuss it more philosophically. How do you expect the determination to bemade whether a crime has been committed or not? That’s rarely an instant thing. Cops would never be able to intervene unless they witnessed the crime themselves.
If someone presented to a cop credible information that you had a gun out in public, the only way to determine whether a crime had been committed would be to conducted a stop. Depending on the information given, that stop my include you exiting your car to be searched, the vehicle as well. You...
