New York expands gun storage rules and ammunition-purchase restrictions

[Zerex]

The possession of ammo, is the flaw, in the CCP/NYS strategy to control guns to make the upstate, for

As the interstate sale of ammo is legal so far, the next thing logically, will be banning the possession of ammo over 20 rounds of ammo by NYS.

Approval to shoot those 20 rounds, and get replacement, may take some time.

There has been proposed legislation in the past reflective of your prediction, and IIRC there are limitations of some sort in the NYC, but not that extreme...please don't give the dysfunctional democrats controlling all three levers of Power in the State ideas...they might just enact them.

On this forum a while back, an older man in the north country area, living alone, was arrested for safe storage violations.

His conviction on a misdemeanor, is likely fact.
Stand on your rots................... or lock up.

Do not lose the keys to the trigger locks, or forget the combo. I do not believe that they can test the trigger lock, or attempt to unlock it, or demand to see what is in your gun safe of locked cabinet......unless they are there--- on your wife's divorce complaint, and are there to take all of your guns. Piss off a lib neighbor who fears for her life?? HAHA

A neighbor of mine lost all of his guns for 18 months, until the divorce was final.................he was forced to move out for those 18 months, on top of it all..........
Cost him a bundle to get his house back.

Scalia did not address divorce and guns.

Gun Storage Laws by State 2026: Safe Storage Requirements and Penalties | Gun Laws by State

Gun storage laws are rapidly evolving, with more states implementing mandatory safe storage requirements to reduce accidental shootings, suicides, and firearm theft. Thes

More and more, keeping guns away from all, except burglars is the trend.

Burglars have special rots to break in steal them, due to rampant racism..and IF they were not safely stored, you can read about guns on line, maybe, afterwards.

Mind expanding on this?
Some Counties have handgun storage requirements, particularly in vehicles and unattended, but the current law has just been passed.

The second Unsafe act actually made the handgun unattended in vehicle a requirement (unloaded, hard shell lockbox, glove box not allowed; disclaimer, this is paraphrased but the law is online). In that act there was a very general storage requirement. The latest has made more restrictions.

Most importantly the latest bill removed he/she and changed it to a gender neutral term. This should reduce violations.

Key Ruling on Gun Storage

• • Striking Down Storage Restrictions: The Supreme Court struck down a District of Columbia requirement that all functional firearms in the home—including rifles and shotguns—be kept unloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock. [1, 2]

So re-enacting storage laws, after being ruled un-Constitutional, is WILLFUL infringement of rights under color of law.

the DoJ should be marching into NY and arresting those who voted for it and signed it.

But, as usual, they are afraid of NY and do absolutely nothing.

Was it not Westchester county where after having a certain numbers of handguns one had to have a gun safe ? A LEO would actually need to see the safe . Not open but see the safe before a judge would approve another purchase of an additional handgun ?

Pissing into the wind...................... Render unto Caesar that which is Caesars, and lock em up.
Fate, dumb chance accident or fire, and they come in.............

Who's got ten million, to get arrested for a safe stoarge violation, and try to go to SCOTUS over a decade??

Good News:

Under current New York law, police generally cannot compel you to open a lock box or safe containing firearms unless they have a valid search warrant or other legal authority; the Safe Storage Act (Penal Law § 265.45) does not give them a blanket right to force access.

A loaded gun inside a lock box or gun safe, is theoretically illegal under this storage act, as it is a racist idea, to be ready in an instant, to repel home invaders, by locking up a loaded gun,

The whole NYS storage act, was obviously passed to protect home invaders from loaded guns, even by your bedside....................gotta give the home invader a fighting chance.

Think this is bullshit? Children need to be protected, and many shootings by kids happen in the minorioty commuities, not Scsarsdale

So unless a search warrant to search a home for--- locked gun containers, and locked gun safes for loaded guns, , is issued.............for what cause? Being prepared AND SAFE?

I may buy 5 more containers and leave them about, locked, of course full of lead shot.

Do lock up your guns with trigger locks, lock boxes and gun safes and locked gun rooms.

Remember, the revisions say "fuck the children",............. GET MAGA, even in childless homes as they may vote Republican!!!!
