Do you really think that would happen? I mean be real on that.If it fails hard enough and threatens world finance it could become a Federal District.

What I will say is the higher pay stuff from the left is mostly BS. Where I work it’s left wing and they routinely comment on and support higher pay for everyone but the workers they pay. My last raises for my union contract were 2% and most recently 3%. We all know those raises do not keep up with inflation. That being said how do we feel about advocacy for higher pay? Not as a government mandate but as a willing investment in tge human capital thank makes business run. It occurs to me that some of our most vital labores are woefully underpaid for the service they provide. EMTs for example; these are the people that we depend on in the worst moments of our lives, literally life and death yet EMTs are paid a poverty pittance. I myself have been advocating for significantly higher pay at my company. It's happened coincidentally. I started a new trucking job a little over a month ago after a disastrous stint hauling coal. In this short time I have done very well, helped out in several emergencies, taken new drivers under my wing, I'm taking calls and put out fires on a near daily basis and there is talk of making me a yard manager, still driving a truck but also overseeing the other drivers working out of the local yard. One thing that keeps coming up in discussions is a lack of skilled, experienced drivers which has lead to the hiring of inexperienced/ unskilled drivers. This has lead to a lack of standards and suboptimal "production".
Tge bar is set very low, in otherwords, with scrubs getting into wrecks, banned from shippers/receivers or in general doing a poor job. My broken record rejoinder has been a lack of pay. This particular fleet pays a flat daily rate of 280 a day which works out to just under 60k a year gross. In this economy that is not near enough to attract tge quality of talent tgis company needs on their highly time sensitive expedited fleet. I have advocated for a much increased rate of 500 a day or around 80k a year as a means to attracted a higher class of driver that can do they job as they require. I am not alone in this, dispatch, ops and tge recruiting team ahree with me.
Higher pay means better workers and also a much higher standard. High pay means a large pool of eager applicants which in turn means the company can demand excellence and fire anyone tgat cannot make the grade. I'd wager that profits would rises due to increased productivity and less costly incidents of all types as well as an improved reputation im the industry which will drive demand for our services which we can charge a higher rate for. Workers in this modern day are not at all compensated fairly and it is short sighted. Look at Ford, tge current nepo-baby CEO fired most of theor experienced American engineers and moved its R&D to a facility in Mexico staffed with Mexican engineers. Now this CEO imbecile is decryimg a lack of mechanics to work on their vehicles, fucking moron that he is he is unable to see tge correlation. Cheap labor means cheap goods and services that nobody wants to buy, a reduction in market share and profits. Employees are an INVESTMENT NOT AN EXPENSE. ThEre was a Golden age from the 20s through to the 50s that our captains of industry understood this.
Dream thought. But no, “They” would never allow a split of 8m votes with a chance of balancing the scales in NY.Do you really think that would happen? I mean be real on that.
My point is corporate profits are at an all time high while everyone is complaining about the quality of theor workers. If you want to attract top class talent you need to offer top class pay to get it. At my company they have large numbers of inexperienced drivers and low skilled scrubs, neither of which are capable of doing the work at the level that the company needs to make a highly time sensitive expedited fleet run properly. They are having all kinds of problems and its because they aren't offering enough money to attract top dog drivers. What I will say is the higher pay stuff from the left is mostly BS. Now to your point. I think you have every right to advocate for an increase in your pay and by your account you deserve it. But I wil also add YOU EARNED IT. You did so by your performance and your good deeds should be recognized.
I will also add are there entire sectors of workers that are under paid, yes!! I will agree 100% EMTs are one class. However, the left exploits them for their political gain. Most people will always feel they are worth more than me I think I get paid well for what I do and I just want raises that keep up with inflation and possibly a slightly better retirement package because those hired before have a better package.
I do not think raising wages wholesale is a great idea but it needs to be done in some cases surgically like your situation. I think of Starbucks and the unionization/demands for better pay and work. They get paid well and good benefits for what they do. Also there is a huge push to raise minimum wage broad scale and that would hurt the USA on the world stage economically. Also a broad scale wage increase at minimum wage age would cause massive inflation. Some are calling for as high as $60/hour minimum wage because that’s what it would have been with inflation. I don’t think that’s feasible but is $7.25 feasible? Likely not and something will have to be done or this will be an issue for the Republican Party moving forward.
