I live in the area, this is good news. The vast majority of the people around here are against STAMP for a few important reasons. Overall, it's not a good fit here for something like STAMP. In fact, it's possibly the worst area for something like this. Considering it's next to the wetlands of the Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area and the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge.

This area is not very populated, mostly redneckish rural to semi-rural; most is swampland, and what isn't swampland is farm fields. STAMP would/will fuck everything up here.

The irony in the failed hydrogen generating plant’s land being sold to a data center is noted.

The Buffalo Billions scandle, the theft of moneys from all the NYS Authorities, the FABLED cancelled attempted Westway rebuild, and many other scams to allow politicians to steal money can be seen clearly.

Micron is as dead as the carrier pigeon, and Wolf-speed in Marcy NY.............billions for tribute, but not a cent for democracy.

NY is utterly incompetent. They would never survive as a private entity if they're couldn't just continue to rape taxpayers as a captive source of generating revenue without consequences for their poor decisions and performance.

One has to ask if we are so green here and love our green energy why is the left so against hydrogen? I smell a rat. Solar and wind farms get the green light but this is nothing but trouble and enough trouble to get them to stop the project?

Yeah, I know.
The STAMP project has been going on for 20 years, back and forth, this and that.
In the end, it's a cluster fuck, so who knows what's going to happen a year from now.
As in what company owns what and all that, certain companies have given up on it for good reasons, only to be replaced by another company, and that cycle continues over and over. It's been going on for the last two decades. The whole thing is rotten to the core.

This really has nothing to do with this thread. Well it kinda does.

NY has screwed up so many great, good and decent deals over the years, earning much ridicule. Simple projects that could have been awesome.

Driving around East Tennessee this weekend, I was amazed at how much is being built.

New roads, nearly popping up overnight. So many companies moving here. Almost no tax breaks are being given either.

I used to get so aggravated with the corruption in greed in NY State.

I watched it rather closely in Erie County.

I almost feel for the people, I do feel for my friends and family.

Texas, growing by leaps and bounds. Hell, even parts of Alabama are growing.

That’s because they don’t need a tax break. Everything is so much cheaper down there it makes sense. Huntsville Alabama is growing leaps and bounds too. Many others are as well.
My son just said he wants to move to Tennessee when he graduates if he can find a good job there. He asked if we would follow him.

Even if it’s not fraud(we all know it is) it’s a failure of epic proportions. The Buffalo billions did nothing for the area. I drive by it regularly for work and there’s not much there. People ask me when I travel oh I hear it’s nice down there. Yeah it’s nice but it hasn’t brought anything to the city. It’s city people walking to the water to enjoy it. It’s nice but we need capital improvements and investments. They are finishing the last park now. The trees will be watered with blood there because it’s gang infested.

I know many times, I make things sound so much better than they are here.... They do tax all food which is odd when comparing to NY.

I went to BJ's Wholesale club yesterday. My bill prior to tax was $345... After taxes, $387.

State tax on food and some counties tax it as well.

Plenty of overpriced vacant houses in NYS when you’re ready to come back. We need a few more taxpayers to spread things out.

The Westway was before your time but here it was:

Westway was a plan for a multi-billion dollar highway and river development project to be built in the Hudson River off lower Manhattan and along its shore. Landfill and platforms were to be used to create 177 acres of developable land in and over the river, and some of Westway's 12-14 traffic lanes were to be partially tunneled through the fill. Plans to use $1.725 billion in federal Interstate highway funds to start building was to be a down payment for the $15 billion projected necessary, to do the project.

15 billion in 1985 ..........all the big political families in the State were to profit immensely.
The Striped Bass was endangered by the project......

I was part of the engineering team..........not a fish story

Reagan cancelled it, as he liked fish.

That's usually why they pick places like that for unpopular and unwanted projects: few people to oppose it and even fewer to fight back...wait until some "Development Authority" decides that'll be a great place for a Land Fill.

My kids wouldn't have to ask twice and I'd even lead the way if they wanted to leave this bloodsucking shithole .

STAMP project timeline.

AI Overview -
The Science Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP) in Genesee County, NY,
initiated planning in 2004, with major infrastructure completion by 2017. Significant progress followed with Plug Power (2021) and Edwards Vacuum (2023). As of March 2026, the Plug Power project is dead, and a new $6.3B data center, "Project Double Reed," is in progress, targeting operational status by 2030.

"GCEDC’s attempts to build infrastructure to service their imaginary advanced manufacturing tenants have been environmentally disastrous failures."

"As of August 2025, there are only two fully confirmed tenants at STAMP: Edwards Vacuum, a dry pump vacuum manufacturer and Plug Power, a green-hydrogen manufacturer which suspended construction in 2023 and may never resume. Despite receiving more than $300M in taxpayer subsidies on the promise of 68 jobs,"
