semi auto long gun/rifle permit - Gift a gun??

[2WheelGnnr]

Sorry as I didnt pay much attention to when NY got the bright idea of make us get Semi auto permits for semi auto long guns.....cuz you know...we are so bad.....as I thought my semi auto .22lr days were over and stupidlly thought I had enough....well now I decided that I may not have enough...so as a pistol permit holder what hoops do I gotta jump through to get my semi auto permit on top of that....If anyone has direct knowledge im in Ontario County.

More time of from work to run around for this BS...........

also recommendations on Buying a 22 semi for my son as a gift. HOw would I do that and the 4473 and NOT be a straw purchase as I know you gift a gun to someone you know is responsible 34 year old with a Garden Chuck Problem........ Maybe I just go with him when I pick up or get it with him and have him fill it all out?? That may end up being the best........I dont know....damn NYS. Not even sure where Im gonna get it at this point.

[FP1201]

Have your handgun licenses amended to reflect semi-automatic Rifles.
on the 4473 you ARE the actual buyer, so answer "YES".
Your Son is a immediate Family member so you may gift the Rifle to him without permission or oversight from Albany,

[2WheelGnnr]

I just read the NYS guidelines on semi auto permit and is basically like applying for your pistol permit all over again!!!! I thought if you have a pistol permit you could get an amendment to add semi auto rifles???? I will contact my County Clerk to verify but god Im not going through all that nonsense again!! my goodness...........

[2WheelGnnr]

Maybe I will rethink and see about a 20 guage shot gun.....probably more versatil in the long run vs all this.....or a rossi lever action .22 I like mine.....who doesnt like a good lever action!!!!

going through this violation again no way..........my PP took about a freaking year as it was........

AFAIK there have been zero "Semi-Automatic Rifle" Licenses issued or for the longest time even an application as it's the same bullshit requirements as getting a Handgun Licenses (think of showing up at DMV to get a Class "B" while operating a Semi-truck with trailer) Counties figure it out and after inside wrangling, decided to just add the endorsement despite the Law reading as a while new Licenses.
Go to your County Clerk and have the amendment made, then you can "show that you have exclusive permission from the Queen" to purchase a SA Rifle (no further amendments or record keeping required....by the time these fuckers are done with us, this will seem innocuous and mundane.

Yes ontario county got back to me and said it was just an amendment to add to current PP. So someday I will do that......maybe on a day I go down to PA and renew my NR PP down there too?!

thanks for the help.......

I get it, but when we go somewhere else, or roll over to an alternative,They win.
One (of many) reasons we closed the Shop was the SAR Licenses requirement: better than half the Rifle sales came from MSR's and others such as 10/22's...

Just watch if your son do any have his semi auto rifle permit you can’t legally gift it to him. I guess I should say he can’t take possession of it. It’s not a permit to purchase, but a permit to possess new ones.

It is not a permit to posses new ones: there's no record keeping requirements. FFL's (some) will take a picture of the Licenses for their records, but there's no P-12, purchase coupon, or other records.
Happy to admit I'm wrong if you can cite the Law saying so.

You are correct it's a permit to purchase not to own.

[byron]

• You do not need a semi-automatic rifle license to borrow one temporarily while engaged in lawful hunting. [1, 2]
• • To permanently purchase, own, or take ownership of a semi-automatic rifle in New York outside of temporary hunting/borrowing exemptions, you must be at least 21 years old and hold a New York State semi-automatic rifle license
  • Exemptions & Scope: The permit requirement applies specifically to semi-automatic rifles. It does not apply to shotguns

[Zerex]

This was done to STOP the purchase of NYS legal AR's ,entirely.

YOU ARE the Enemy, of Xi and the CCP!!

[Robin]

So it is just to legally purchase one then. Probably hundreds of thousands of them owned for years and still owned today by people with no pistol permit. More dumbfuckery.

Yeppers have MANY before this law went into affect. I knew it was a permit to Purchase...no posess......okay then its a lender...Got it.......while he works through his PP and SEMI A permit as he plans to apply once his residency meets the required...bought a home in dansville 2 years ago....Gotta check his county for that.......

[Robin]

If he's in the Livingston County part of Dansville it should go pretty smooth.

This is accurate and what I was saying. You need a permit to take possession of one after 9/22.

It’s a permit to possess for sure. Of course you need it for purchase as well because you’re going to possess it after purchasing it. I don’t care what you do, but knowing the law helps you in many ways. The law it to buy, transfer, take possession of.

This has foiled many purchases of semi auto rifles.; Remington 7400, series, Saiga's, Mini 14's.

You cannot walk into a MAGA home as a CCP Garrison troop, and not potentially encounter a "Heller" armed man.

AMMO is the key to it all.. A NYS law,to prohibit the storage of ammo, in the same structure that a gun may be in, is likely down the road, as too many home invaders may have been injured. by homeowners.

The time it takes to leave home and go to a detached garage to unlock an ammo locker to retrieve ten rounds, to go back into your home and stop the perp from raping your wife will, work well to let the home invader succeed and escape justice.................AS INTENDED.

Retrieving Ten rounds, is proof of insane, homicidal tendencies.

"Heller" did say that guns in the home for self protection is law.

Safe storage is a thorny issue for DA's to enforce due to Heller and lack of any qualifying incident, like a "child thug", breaking in, to steal loot and guns... and succeeding.....you go to jail.......................and other than voting rolls, as proof of MAGA insanity, and the CCP "camps." safe storage is here to stay.
