This is exactly what China and Russia looking for. It's all going by their plans. The US and even the EU is getting weaker and weaker by the day by giving Ukraine and other folks weapons and funding. Top that off with the lowered standards in the US Military, the fall of the US Dollar, and the fact that key manufacturing of highly advanced microchips for weapons are made in China and other parts of that particular area.
I also heard that even though the US has been funding billions (if not trillions) of dollars into Egypt over the past several decades, that Egypt told the US to go screw off when the US asked if they could close their airspace to Russian aircraft.
The way I look at it, these countries that once used to be our allies are now turning toward greener pastures. Why? Because why would they want their country to turn into a third world status...

Russia, I'm pretty sure, is just a pawn in the US/China fight for dominance at this stage. They don't like that, and want to pretend they're still a superpower, but they're not. Without their nukes they would be a minor regional power at best
As for China vs the US, I don't think China is remotely willing to entertain the idea of a "multi polar world".
Collectivists are utterly unwilling to allow individual liberty anywhere. They will preach free speech individual rights while they are the weaker power, but as soon as they achieve dominance that goes out the window.
Look at what's happened in academia in the US. The same exact people who were all about free speech in decades past are now the ones attempting to crucify anyone who strays from orthodoxy.
So, Russia and Ukraine are a side show. It's amusing at the moment, and maybe a good test bed for some weapon systems, but in the long run it's irrelevant.
At best, Russia's miserable showing may give China pause on their ambitions for Taiwain. That's about all that's worth in the long run. It's a pity so may decent people have to die for that.
So, with the choice between China, or the US running the world ? US 100% of the time. Even as fucked up as we are right now, it's *nothing* compared to what an unchecked China would do.
