Ultimately this has given Iran more geopolitical global power. Tehran has seen how cutting off the Strait of Hormuz can help it counter asymmetry of military power. You don't need to kill your enemy, just choke off their resources and they'll cry uncle.

Not necessarily. China's economy essentially imports vast quantities of raw materials and exports vast amounts of finished products. This can only happen with free movement of ships/goods to and from China. If the imports get interrupted the exports do as well and their economy falters. Their problem is they don't have a military, specifically a navy, that can keep the sea lanes open and/or escort their ships.
I would not say they control everything. Because if they can't guarantee their inputs and outputs they are beholden to those that can like the US.
My guess is the rail network from iran to China was deliberately left alone from any targeting. But if things go south it will probably be deliberately targeted.
Israel causes just as many if not more problems.
Lets make a deal. We nuke Iran AND Israel off the map.
