If the motivating factor behind the "memorandum" was the desire to keep gas prices low going into the midterms then the trump administration is in trouble. Why would iran go along with this? They will do everything they can to cause trouble. It's almost certain they will do something that guarantees retaliation by the US. Then oil goes up, gas prices go up and trump's polling goes down. I'd like to give trump the benefit of the doubt but I don't see the grand strategy here.

Yeah, I don't know of a consistently reliable media outlet. Too many people shape the truth or present their report in a manner to serve an interest. Some sources lie for their benefit.

In this case I believe the cell phone call from an American who just sailed through the Strait. Nothing to gain or lose by just telling it like it like he saw it.

In this case, it does seem his account aligns more closely with Centcom PR and the Vance interview than the IRGC release or potential clickbait from various media. (Go Figure ... lol)

I have seen reporting during this conflict from multiple media sources that I flat out knew was not true. (Not believe was untrue, I knew was untrue.) I believe some outlets were passing on unverified information to be an early broadcaster, some sources go outrageous for clicks but others broadcast or flagrantly broad ast inormation they knew was inaccurate or false for a selfish or strategic benefit.

What made you think there was EVER a plan in place? Trump thought he was gonna roll some iron over there and Iran would beg for mercy.
