when i broke the back window on my F150 .. Safelite wanted like 3 or 400 bucks for just the glass ..

You know what I just got new insp that same day f'er... reg expires in Aug so not so bad lol. Hardest part for me is biting my tongue when my son knows, my wife believes and my MIL outright denies (or refuses to believe) who is responsible. Like I said earlier, it's complicated.
I "think" mount for mirror comes pre-installed on OEM glass. Could be wrong but no biggie.

PS .. the registration sticker was made in NY .. it falls off the widow at time .. there is a history of that LOL

Pretty sure I can go to place where I got insp done show them receipt and get a new sticker. If not no biggie the $37 is least of my concerns at the moment.

but you could just cut that section of the of the glass out and tape it to the new glass .. TOO

Yeesh…. Hang in there, man- it’s gonna be ok. Keep the wife & family safe and try your best to not let this eat you up. Be extra cautious for a while and keep one eye open.
I'll try to heat it up and transfer. Old sticker was 2 or 3 months out of date not too keen on compliance with NY insp laws as of late. Just another tax IMHO. Wife had hers done too same day.... about a month out of date. Apparently she's more concerned than I am and I probably would not have gotten mine done had it not been for the wife. So sick of NY (not the geography just the politics)...
Thanks brother it's been eating me alive going on 5+ yrs now. Funny thing is I love the guy ever since he was 5 and i feel sorry for him. He don't even know it. He's got serious issues that I can't help and pretty much written him off. I really don't want to cause any stress in his life and can't be completely sure he's responsible but I kinda call a spade a spade. The night this occurred also happened to be our MILs birthday. Just want to document it and install cameras so I can prove it if it happens again. If cameras prevent any more issues it will be money well spent in my book...

Use a propane or butane torch on the outside of the glass, heat it up real good and then one swipe with a wide plastic putty knife and they'll come off there like butter.

And make sure you don't scrape all the urethane off the body side. The windshield cutters are intended to leave a small layer, you'll urethane right over it.

I’d look past this one but if stuff keeps happening then I would not. I’d make that known to everyone involved even who you think did it.
I work on that kind of stuff for nothing but gas, room & board - I'll even drop them off at the local PD.

Nope. It's a separate piece that goes with collission coverage. Its inexpensive IF you already have colission coverage which is expensive and mandatory on new car purchases or mandatory if taking out a loan on a used car in NYS. Bonkers.

My windshield finally came today. Bought some glass knifes for my Fein Supercut old glass came out much easier than I expected. Unfortunately found some rust along top of windshield. Bought some POR 15 and painted the rust waiting for it to dry. Hopefully will get windshield set tonight.

It seems to be a success! Lined up pretty perfectly all around. I put a pretty good sized bead of urethane all around so not expecting any problems but will have to test it tomorrow. Going to hold off on putting trim back until after it cures. Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Kinda fun actually!

Cameras are so cheap now that everyone should be installing at least a basic system. If something happens on your property, nothing advocates for you like video; juries love pictures, especially good quality pictures that move and identifies the bad guy to them. I built my system up over time. I'd like to install a vehicle video system but the cars getting along in years so I'm not sure its worth the long term investment at this point. You never know, though. Had a confrontation in town the other day with some derelict who crossed in the middle of the street and who thought I should have slowed down for his derelict ass, so he started screaming at me. You never know when THOSE types of incidents will happen

Well weather cooled off a bit got most of the cameras installed. Got one more to put up outside its already wired. Pretty happy with them esp driveway it's pretty dark outside and the cars light up pretty good. Haven't seen them in daylight yet. This is just a temporary monitor to get them set up. Have to figure out how to download app so I can get it on PC and phone.
