In the US there is a tradition of high ranking officials submitting a resignation letter to the president on their first day. If he is ever dissatisfied with them he doesn't have to fire them, he can just accept the letter they already wrote.
In Russia they do the same thing, but with suicide notes.
Conscription agents attacked with shovels in Western Ukraine.

I sure would like to know why a bigger brouhaha hasn’t occurred over Presidente Zelensky whereabouts between tweets. Seems to me he is a president in exile in some very nice places.
I'm pretty neutral in this conflict, I don't have a side I want to win I see things about both sides I don't like or mistakes they've made, I think it's entirely believable that Russia has gotten a serious bloody nose and their casualty numbers would be shocking.
It's entirely in the realm of possibilities that Russia has had comparable casualties on Ukraine than the US had in ww2.
That's almost incomprehensible for us being a casualty averse mindset.

'Pure hell' in Moscow as Ukrainian drones strike major refinery supplying capital's fuel market
Ukraine launched one of its largest drone attacks on Moscow, striking a major oil refinery and sending thick black smoke over parts of the Russian capital.

Drone warfare is changing war in real time before our eyes.
You can have limitless and deadly $10,000 drones wreck havoc or they are usually stopped by 1,000,000 interceptors.
That's a really crappy economic situation for the defender.

Multiple reports, including sources based in Russia and China, indicate the blown oil tank was hit by an errant heat seeking Russian missle that was intended to target an incoming drone. Ooops.Seems the various widespread examples of footage from the explosion are real and not AI generated.

Putin holds several black belts in various martial arts , the Jewish comedian would get his ass handed to him lol

Both sides have taken heavy casualties , that seems to be why the progress is so slow . each side has eyes in the sky , difficult to mass troops without getting pounded Russia has the edge in manpower , and its a battle of attrition, Russia is making very slow progress , But Ukraine hasnt even launched a serious offensive in 2 years , the town of Lyman fell today, and several more are nearly surrounded and will fall by end of summer. It aint pretty, but they are moving forward

With the exception of his youth training / competition in Judo (and the Russian Samba), all of Putin's other belts are are Honorary / Ambassadorial awarded for his political status.
Putin legitimately trained and competed in Judo as a youth and has been a lifelong supporter of the sport, but he hasn't competed in 50 years and his past competition is in weight classes so he competed against other little shits.
I've seen video of his demonstrations from 2016 with their National Team and even with passive partners Putin did not come off as a legitimate Combatives threat.
I think it still could be an entertaining match against the other (but younger and less soft comedian lawyer) little shit. Lol.

Those two little shits (Putin and Zelensky) deeply hate each other and a cage match could draw some ticket sales (maybe Trump could help promote it .. lol).
I doubt Putin or Zelensky has the balls (or weak enough self preservation instinct) to face off in a ring grudge match. They're both little shits but Putin is a bit old with health issues and Zelensky probably does not know how to seriously fight.

So, for the low low price of a million more dead Russians, Putin can claim some more muddy farmland ?
What was the point of the whole thing again ?
With the relatively static front lines, a no man's land constantly surveilled by drones and never ending casualties this seems more of a repeat of world war one.

The point of the whole thing was never for farm land, they have stated that fact for the last 30 or so years ,
But unfortunately, it does look like it will cost a lot more lives and treasure, and Russia is prepared to pay that price .
If you ask me, this war could be over if Zelenski would be willing to sign a simple neutrality act . the way its going, it looks like this could drag on another 5-10 years . I dont see Ukraine winning in any scenario now. They have plenty of weapons, training , money but are critically short of man power , which seems to be why they are stuck on permanent defense.

War could end any time Putin wants it.
He just needs to pack up what's left of his army and go back where he came from.
But, why is Russia fighting at all. What is it they want to gain from all of this ?
They're literally just fighting over some farmland.
If it's the whole "keep NATO off our border" thing, then it's an unmitigated disaster. Finland joined NATO specifically *because* if this Ukraine invasion. Putin now has NATO closer to Moscow than they every would have been if he had just minded his own business.
So, again, what's the goal here ? What does Russia expect to get in exchange for decimating a whole generation ?
Respect?
I think Putin started this war to annex some or all of Ukraine while the weakling biden was in office and before the US could do anything about it.
But after 4 years of war he is no closer to his goal and has an unbelievable number of casualties. He has control of certain parts but his territory is now threatened by drones.
More and more this reminds me of world war one. Senseless slaughter for no apparent reason. Tragic.

to keep NATO off thier borders. Are they all supposed to go home because Finland joined NATO? Really? Putin should annouce the war is over theres nothing we can do because Finland Joined NATO. Were going to give back all the ""farmland"" and call it a day

But what does Russia want with that sliver of Ukraine anyway? Russia isn't exactly hurting for land, and that territory isn't full of gold or oil or something.
It almost seems like the whole thing was for domestic consumption. Putin needed this to manage the Russian people, and the international stuff is irrelevant.
It certainly didn't help that Biden basically gave him permission.

Yes.
Before someone else joins NATO because of this.
You have to admit, if "keeping NATO away" was his goal, then this is an utter failure.

they are not in the Ukraine, which was always the stated goal , Mission accomplished. As for NATO, they scored some points with FInland , but its not a war ender . As NATO slowly falls apart , Finland may reconsider her decision in the future .
Really? I think our resident kremlin advocate would take issue with that.

Correct, but Not officially.
Russia is succeeding in securing supply line to Crimea. Mobile anti-drone artillery units are placed throughout the route and escorting fuel convoys. Ukrainian drone attacks on the supply line are no longer effective.
It appears Russia is no longer interested in any deal that will keep NATO controlled terrorist government in power.

There is a growing rift between Poland and Ukraine. After all of the aid and support Poland gave to Ukraine, Zelensky spat in their face by naming elite Ukrainian military unit in honor of UPA.
UPA was Ukrainian Nationalist Army that massacred over 100,000 Polish peasants during the WWII.
Polish politicians are no longer looking the other, while Ukraine keeps glorifying some of the worst war criminals of WWII. They didn't even waste ammo on Polish civilians. They butchered them with axes.
Polish president gave Zelensky a chance to reverse this decision, Zelensky refused and returned White Eagle award given to him by Duda, so did other former Ukrainian leaders and current officials. Both sides are doubling down on their stance.
This was bound to happen sooner or later.

Can't speak to its veracity but this is a very damning assessment of the Russian military. Essentially the corruption in the military is hobbling it's effectiveness on the battlefield.
