I sure would like to know why a bigger brouhaha hasn’t occurred over Presidente Zelensky whereabouts between tweets. Seems to me he is a president in exile in some very nice places.
I'm pretty neutral in this conflict, I don't have a side I want to win I see things about both sides I don't like or mistakes they've made, I think it's entirely believable that Russia has gotten a serious bloody nose and their casualty numbers would be shocking.
It's entirely in the realm of possibilities that Russia has had comparable casualties on Ukraine than the US had in ww2.
That's almost incomprehensible for us being a casualty averse mindset.

Both sides have taken heavy casualties , that seems to be why the progress is so slow . each side has eyes in the sky , difficult to mass troops without getting pounded Russia has the edge in manpower , and its a battle of attrition, Russia is making very slow progress , But Ukraine hasnt even launched a serious offensive in 2 years , the town of Lyman fell today, and several more are nearly surrounded and will fall by end of summer. With the exception of his youth training / competition in Judo (and the Russian Samba), all of Putin's other belts are are Honorary / Ambassadorial awarded for his political status.
Putin legitimately trained and competed in Judo as a youth and has been a lifelong supporter of the sport, but he hasn't competed in 50 years and his past competition is in weight classes so he competed against other little shits.
I've seen video of his demonstrations from 2016 with their National Team and even with passive partners Putin did not come off as a legitimate Combatives threat.
I think it still could be an entertaining match against the other (but younger and less soft comedian lawyer) little shit. Lol.

I doubt Putin or Zelensky has the balls (or weak enough self preservation instinct) to face off in a ring grudge match. They're both little shits but Putin is a bit old with health issues and Zelensky probably does not know how to seriously fight.

The point of the whole thing was never for farm land, they have stated that fact for the last 30 or so years ,
But unfortunately, it does look like it will cost a lot more lives and treasure, and Russia is prepared to pay that price .
If you ask me, this war could be over if Zelenski would be willing to sign a simple neutrality act . the way its going, it looks like this could drag on another 5-10 years . I dont see Ukraine winning in any scenario now. They have plenty of weapons, training , money but are critically short of man power , which seems to be why they are stuck on permanent defense.

If it's the whole "keep NATO off our border" thing, then it's an unmitigated disaster. Finland joined NATO specifically *because* if this Ukraine invasion. Putin now has NATO closer to Moscow than they every would have been if he had just minded his own business.
So, again, what's the goal here ? What does Russia expect to get in exchange for decimating a whole generation ?

I think Putin started this war to annex some or all of Ukraine while the weakling biden was in office and before the US could do anything about it.
But after 4 years of war he is no closer to his goal and has an unbelievable number of casualties. He has control of certain parts but his territory is now threatened by drones.
More and more this reminds me of world war one. Senseless slaughter for no apparent reason. Tragic.

It almost seems like the whole thing was for domestic consumption. Putin needed this to manage the Russian people, and the international stuff is irrelevant.

Polish politicians are no longer looking the other, while Ukraine keeps glorifying some of the worst war criminals of WWII. They didn't even waste ammo on Polish civilians. They butchered them with axes.
