Children are among the victims at Bend, Oregon, school shooting

[holdover]

Kind of pisses me off…

We live in the greatest country ever! Period.

How “we” allow this shit to continue is mind blowing to me.

So much could be done, so many things; all ideas are ignored or pushed to the side.

judges politicians banks entertainers all have armed security, but the kids dont

My ideas go further than guards and metal detectors.

I think we need to rate the students that go to these schools. If they appear to be problem children, wicked special needs, mental health issues, to include all forms of MI, not allowed in schools.

There was a guy in historical notes that had great, and strict rules about who could go to schools. Maybe read those notes.

Great read of ALL the mistakes made to include after!

The Parkland school shooting was the most avoidable mass murder in American history. And the policies that made it inevitable have spread to your school......

Again, I go far beyond armed security.

I am for mass segregation of our schools and everything else in society. My segregation goes far beyond all the usual types.

I agree. I’m not saying they need to be prisons, but people say this. I think they mean this when we say add armed guards or metal detectors to the schools and keep them on lockdown. To me this is common sense and needs to be done among other things.

But we don't need to do that.

We were fine without even locking any doors when I was a kid. (Literally, the school I went to had about 50 different entrance/exits, and most were *never* locked)

We need to remove the dangerous elements from society, not try to defend every place in the country from them.

If you need metal detectors and security at every school, then you need them at every public building, from the grocery store to the hospital.

That is a shitty society. Fix the fucking root problem. Quit trying to band aid it with pointless security.

If they *had* that stuff at this school, the kid would have shot the guard by surprise first, then walked through the metal detector without giving a fuck.

There are different levels of education, and different environments appropriate for everyone.

I think basic literacy, civics and at least arithmetic are necessary for everyone who will participate in society. If you can't meet that, then you're not an adult no matter how old you are. If you have to be institutionalized then that's what happens.

Some people (generally with terrible parenting) cannot function in a normal school environment. It's unfair to everyone to try and put them there.

Special schools for special people.

One generation of proper schooling and I think we can unfuck most of our society.

No family.
No responsibility.
No God.
Must believe everyone. Not white, straight, non-crazy, males.

There is a reason you got spanked as a kid, it builds respect and right vs wrong.

Yes!

Me to. He resides in Attica for the of my life. Been 8 years and I’m still very angry

I get that man. Sorry for this struggle. Forgiving someone can be tough. You can forgive a person and not accept their behavior or have contact with them. Took me many years to forgive someone that repeatedly made my life difficult. I think oftentimes people equate forgiveness with accepting their behavior or the person.
I truly hope you find peace in this situation at some point. You seem like a great guy!!

I hear it all the time that they don’t want to turn schools into prisons. I guess they are ok taking the chance. Honestly our idiot politicians would never spend the money saving these kids anyway. They want this to happen. It’s all part of their political strategy.

Theres no need. Can have a couple guards in street clothes that just blend in. The fastest way to stop a school shooting is to prevent it. The vast majority of them swallow a bullet the moment armed resistance arrives. Have it there to start with and the cowards dont even try it.

Not to mention our society has gone soft. We are not willing ro remove the crazies and dangerous criminals anymore to let us normies live in peace. Fix the root cause and the schools wont need security.

I agree. That’s the lefts arguments. No one needs to be hanging out at guard posts with machine guns.
The left likes it when this happens.

When leftys hear "armed guards" they imagine a guy in full SWAT kit with a slung M4 and a K-9 at his heel.

I imagine business casual Secret Service.

All forms of forgiveness is a sign of weakness.

But theres a reason for this , its called the helgealin dialectic , create the problem , and present the solution, , the solution is gun control. but they have to have the people behind it , those terrible guns, those terrible terrible terrible terrible guns , what are we to do?

Precisely. Blend in with the rest of the adults. Keeps a would-be bad guy guessing, and also doesnt disrupt the kids.
