Hell yea. I do the same. I carry my Ruger SP101 .22 revolver with me when I big game hunt and I'll carry a serious caliber sidearm when I'm small game hunting and my 10/22 is my primary. I might stop bringing the SP101 though. I wouldn't shoot a squirrel over 10 yards away with that revolver and...
For sure. Healthiest for them and us.
My goal for this year is to take squirrel hunting more seriously. I always go out during squirrel season to scout out the public land I want to hunt. It's always been more for me about looking for big game signs and hiking with an overloaded pack for...
Funny you mention it, I did foreign exchange to Germany when I was in high school. Out of the 2 weeks when we had to go to classes, I was unlucky enough to have had history class there for the week when they cover post-WWII history. Man, it was pathetic and sad. Me and my buddies did our best to...
In stock config, I agree, but I'd throw an arm brace and a small scope on it. Then you'd have every advantage of a rifle over a handgun. Versus a rifle, you'd be trading a little velocity for weight and the ability to toss it in a backpack. Not a significant difference for most, but if I lived...
As a non-white person, I genuinely believe white guilt is a bigger problem than racism in this country and it's not even close.
Racists suck, and I don't want anything to do with them, which is convenient because they generally don't want anything to do with me. The nice thing is that they...
I had a couple of old BB guns I never used, so in March I bought a bullet trap rated for up to .22LR and shoot at home. The triggers are crappier than any trigger on any firearm I own. One uses CO2 to reciprocate a slide while the other doesn't. Neither is as accurate as any pistol I own. Still...
Sweet build! I love that platform. I polished up the trigger myself for a much nicer pull, but my other mods have been minimal. I got a new charging handle and the Volquartsen bolt tune-up kit, but those few bucks was enough to tighten up a rough-and-ready little rifle into something a cleaner...
Yea, the cut/crowned barrel is definitely the more airtight way to go legally. That said, I have a thread protector muzzle cap on one and a false muzzle device on another. The fake muzzle device looks just like a compensator but doesn't actually have any holes. Anecdotal, so it doesn't mean...
My guess is that no one would give you grief about this if it was at a range and your rifle was otherwise compliant. But if you had to shoot someone with it, they'd also charge you with posessing an assault weapon. No clue at all what would happen if a DEC officer came upon someone hunting with...
Gotcha. I've only ever shot a 629 with those stock S&W rubberish grips, but with a covered backstrap I don't like the longer trigger reach. In that case, I think I might try the Hogue rubber grips first since I already know I'm going to shoot it too much when I first get it.
No quarter? If China invades, we need to instantly start taking pages out of Vlad "Dracula" Tepeş, playbook, and even then, the Ottoman Turks were a less cruel adversary than the Communist Chinese would be.
A buddy of mine let me shoot some of his Oregon Trail lasercast handloads through my .45 Colt. They were definitely clean and seemed like good quality bullets, can't remember what powder he used in those. They're a little pricey for lead, but I do want to try them out.
When it comes to coated...
An interesting read:

And an interesting commentary on it to watch:
I'm all about supporting your local gun stores, so try them first, but if you can't find anything, check grabagun.com and see if they have anything in stock you like.
Especially with that Hogue grip! I was looking hard at an SBH in .44 or the regular Blackhawk in .45 Colt, but I really like shooting in double-action.
Haha, I'll make sure to wear double ear pro. I was a little disappointed the first time I shot a .44 mag. I expected my fillings to shake loose, my ears to bleed, and the target to catch fire. The first one I shot was a 6" S&W 629 and it wasn't even close to as bad as .357 from a snubbie. Hell...
Thanks for all the tips guys.
@Phauxtoe , those bullets look great for the price. I saw a couple of bullets of theirs that I'll probably be ordering for my other revolver, a replica Remington 1858 black powder with a cartridge conversion in .45 Colt. That's my current go-to for big-bore light...
So, while I wait for the crown's permission to pick up my new S&W 629, I'm getting ready to reload some .44 magnum to have ready for when the new cannon comes home. I usually prefer to buy factory ammo and shoot it up as a sort of baseline to get a feel for a new caliber and stockpile some...
I don't know about how light is too light to carry, but I definitely agree with the idea that smooth and crisp is way more important than light. I've found that I shoot way better with a butter smooth trigger, even if it's very heavy, than with a gritty or mushy trigger that happens to be light...
MAYBE, a newly minted boot that just spent the last 13 weeks trying not to get caught peeping the female DIs. And even then, the amount of tequila necessary would probably disable the plumbing.
Thirteen years for a limey making guns, yet the grooming gangs trafficking little girls get off scot-free or with slaps on the wrist. The U.K. deserves whatever hell they're creating for themselves.
To ikilledkenny's predicament, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a Glock in a store, but if you do, I suggest you try them out. A Glock 17 has lots of pros, including that it would be a great one to learn handgun shooting fundamentals. Once 9mm isn't picked clean off the shelves, it's cheap...
Glad you pointed me back to this thread. I forgot about this G48 with a red dot mounted. If the MOS isn't worth it and it's better to get it milled anyway, I'd much rather go for a G48 than a 19.
Interesting. I figured I'd get the MOS to have it optic ready off the shelf, but if the mounting plates suck, getting a regular G19 custom milled sounds like a "buy once, cry once deal" instead of saving a few bucks on an MOS. Looks like I need to do some more research. Thanks.
Haha, it's a helluva fun project. I considered doing it with a Polymer 80 from scratch, but after I sold that Glock, I decided that from now on I'm only ever going to own one autoloader handgun at a time and that one gun will be my EDC. It's a Walther PPS .40 now, which I like fine for the time...
This was mine. It was my first handgun and was never a stock Glock. I built it up from parts that I slowly bought as I waited to get my license issued. The day I got it, I went to the store, picked up the frame, went home, assembled it and went back to the range to send 150 rounds through it...
Sweet gun and a really sweet setup. It definitely lives up to your signature line!
I used to carry a G34/35, but it had a grip reduction and grip chop that shortened it down to the point it would accept Glock 26/27 mags. I did it all myself and loved that gun. But when a buddy got his license...
So this project started by people who hate the police hasn't been going on for a month yet and their "security forces", aka their commie version of the police have already shot at least 3 people that I know of and killed 2...
Yep, looks like leftist solutions to police brutality work just about...
I was torn between a 10mm 1911 and a .44 mag revolver. Spent a lot of time considering splitting the difference with a 10mm revolver. Ended up going with the S&W 629 .44 magnum 5". It's the same frame size (N-frame) as the 10mm 610, but something about 10mm in a revolver didn't sit well with me...
Take a look at the Hill People Gear kit bag. It's a chest pack designed to carry a handgun in the main compartment and has another pouch for odds and ends. I love mine. I've used it for hunting, hiking, running, walking the dogs, bicycling, etc. It keeps your firearm well concealed and protects...
One of the top enlisted ranks in the USMC is Master Gunnery Sergeant. Lefties don't like "masters" or "guns" so they should start going up to Master Guns and demanding they change their rank. Maybe "Top Fuzzy Mittens Sergeant" is more PC. I'm sure all the Master Guns in the Corps would take that...
