Anything between 9mm and 45 that has been discussed here is plenty effective imo, just pick the pros and cons that go with each. To think there is one best answer for everyone in every situation is crazy.

I bet you well adapted, wearing your camo gear everywhere you go. Prepared to shoot at the enemy through 3 concrete walls with a pistol. And prefer to put a small hole in the threat rather than a large one.

Muzzle energy does not mean much to me, 40 lbs more and it more is better..... But the 45 does make a hole in the target that is up to 25% bigger than 9mm and thats more too...

I think the 45 is not a good barrier penetrator is a little over blown. There are enough videos showing 45 going through car doors and other stuff. No bought that there are other calibers that will get through stuff that 45 wont but what is the trade offs? what type of barriers do you you need...

Yes the start police use the GAP but they are in process of changing pistols and I think the new one will be 45 ACP I can verify in a few days. A friends wife is in RPD and her service pistol is a glock 21 which is 45 acp.

45 may not penetrate barriers the best but that is not always a bad thing. Think about collateral damage..... Plus good 45 ammo expands to 1 inch and still penetrates 14.5 inches. As far as 10mm 1911s they are great but the two guys I know that had the Colt didnt have the best of luck with...

Yes 41 is more powerful I believe the hottest 10mm is at the lower end of 41 magnum but they are very close in diameter. I dont get the rimed revolver cartridge being ballistically superior to the autoloaders tho...

The only revolver cartridge that is compatible to a 10mm is a 41 magnum and that went over like a fart in church...

I think the half decent platforms thought is bad. Glock has the G20 and G40. Plenty of 1911s and some long slides as well. Sig has the P220 in both single and in SA/DA options. Ruger has a revolver. So any platform you could ask for is represented with quality options. The other calibers...

The Hogdon web sight has a TrailBoss load for 125 grain in a 357 case starting at 3.0 grains and 753 fps. Give it a shot. The Cowboy action shooters would be a great source!!! Please let us know what you find out.
