The Chinese absolutely want this to go on so we use up our munitions. Can't export things to Taiwan if we're using them in the middle east.Looks like the IRGC just attacked a US base in Kuwait with drones

Iran attacks US base in Kuwait, vessel hit by projectile near Strait of Hormuz

So whatever was going on with the newest "peace talks" are likely to be up in smoke.
I absolutely predict this conflict to continue for the foreseeable future because both sides have positioned themselves to where they cant seek a peace deal because they will lose face. They are both caught in an escalation loop cycle where they really can't get out of it under the existing dynamic without drastic changes. Trump maybe forced to "go big" but that may also have the counter effect and just reenforce irans resolve to see it through.
China is probably egging Iran on to manipulate them to keep this going longer so we further deplete our missile stockpiles.
I made fun of Russia for invading Ukraine without really having a plan to end it, yet here we are clearly not learning from their blunder. The bigger problem is we are trying to supply a conflict on the other side of the world not at our front door so logistically it's significantly harder and more expensive to keep this up. Also, if we just pull out and leave, we can, but we lose legitimacy in the gulf oil countries and it's almost a guarantee with a short amount of time the USD would be replaced as the global reserve petro dollar which would have disasterous effects on our economy.

Trump's problem is he is facing an enemy just as ruthless and fanatical as Nazi Germany and imperial japan. They do not care about their own civilian casualties. They can only be defeated either by taking over their country (Germany) or nuking them (japan). We aren't going to do either and they know it. If we pause for a while they will purposely restart hostilities so we have to use up our declining stocks of munitions. Unfortunately trump has discovered too late that it is much easier to start a conflict than end it.
Then the sand people need to do something to protect their interests.100%
I think Israel really convinced Trump this was going to be simple and quick, low risk.
You can't just kick a beehive, kill their leaders, kill like 10,000 of their military troops (the real casualty count very well might be much higher than that as we've destroyed a lot). and some civilians and then humiliate and embarrass them and then say "welp, we're done, we want to go home, we want peace now, let's make a deal". That's not going to work.
The IRGC knows they have more leverage and support internally today for their regime than they did before the conflict started. They were hanging on by a thread a month before the conflict. Now they are as strong and popular as they have been in years. They are exerting their strategic leverage with the strait and threatening to make their neighbors desert countries uninhabitable by destroying their drinking water and power plants.
Its a mess.

If we use up all our munitions against Iran, we will not have any to defend Taiwan.
