Serious question here, What part of reparations is owed by areas of America TODAY that were NOT part of America during the era of slavery ? For instance, but by no means exclusive: what would Idaho owe ? Idaho was admitted to the US territories in 1890. Long after slavery was abolished. Do the residents of Idaho owe reparations ?

What happens if a black person is only, say, 10% black? 10% payout?
I read somewhere that all, non-immigrant blacks in the US have a percentage of White/European DNA. Many share DNA withe slave owners, which makes them closer to the evil than me and my people.
If a White guy with 3% black DNA, does he get 3% of the funds?
What about those of us whose family came here after the ol slave days? Do I owe through taxes?
Granted, this will never happen, not in a million years.

*Lots* of slave owners left their DNA all over the family trees of their slaves.

DNA tests don't tell whether you are "Black" or "white".
Black and white are colors.
The focus of slavery reparations is on lineage.
So in your mind in order for someone to qualify for reputations, what would they need to do to prove their individual lineage goes back to being a direct slave?
For reparations based on enslavement, yes. With the caveat that slave-trading records were often destroyed, so that makes necessary a degree of uncertainty.
EDIT: misread the message I am replying to.
A massive documentation project would be necessary, tracing citizens' roots. Consolidating existing slavery-related records would be the starting point.

* Documented ancestral connection to at least one person enslaved in the U.S. or legally classified within the post-slavery Freedmen population
Because records are incomplete, the proof standard should be preponderance of evidence.

No slaves in my family in the US, only the colonies.
If your family got into the uncle-daddy thing and you were a descendent of him, then I suppose so...otherwise, you'd be ineligible.
There were a lot of slaves in the Caribbean working on sugar plantations as well, what if someone has lineage back to slavery that occurred on US territory like Puerto rico or the USVI that were not actually states but territory.
Puerto Rico became a US territory In 1898, which for all you learing educated folks is after the US civil war concluded. So in this situation you could have roots back to slavery on land that was not US territory at the time, but it is today.
What type of situation would that fall under?

This entire conversation makes my head hurt.
There have been a lot of stupid ideas put forth in the last 150 years, but thisifea of reparations for slavery is definitely at the top of the stupid list.
Grown ass men and women, out there begging like crazy for monies never earned.
The entire idea makes me sick and does nothing but make my disdain grow even more.

Can you imagine the graft potential that would naturally arise? Overnight there would be so many firms offering historical documentation services so people could become eligible for reparations. It would make the "quality learing center" look legitimate in comparison.
I also think you'd have the same problem the Nazis did as they tried to pin down the definition of a jew. Did one grandparent make you Jewish? What percentage of Jewish blood crossed the threshold? Same problem here. What percentage of your ancestry was a former slave and what would be the threshold to receive reparations. This nonsense would be tied up in the courts for decades.
